Overview of the process:
- Obtain certified copies of birth certificates and current valid photo IDs
- Get FBI/SBI background checks and fingerprinting
- Complete the application forms and notarized affidavits of good character
- Post a notice of name change at the courthouse for ten days
- Submit the paperwork to the courthouse
- Pick up the order of name change from the courthouse
- Take the paperwork to the DMV and Social Security office
- Change all documentation (bank accounts, utilities, credit cards, school transcripts, diplomas, etc.)
