Support Groups

Tranzmission offers ongoing support groups, both virtually and in person. Each meeting is 90 minutes, confidential, and peer-led by trained facilitators. Every new participant goes through a screening process in order to stay intentional about the safety of our community. After a successful screening, you will be added to an email list specific to the group(s) you are joining. Check out the Get Involved page to get started.

Please Note: Our support groups are specifically for the transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive, and gender questioning communities. For the safety of our members, these meetings are not open to people who firmly identify as cisgender (meaning those who identify as the gender they were assigned at birth). If you are cisgender and have questions about how to advocate for and support a trans loved one, please email support@tranzmission.org.

Our current schedule is as follows (all times are listed in Eastern Standard Time):

Transformers General Support Meetings are for anyone who is nonbinary, transgender, gender fluid, or questioning their gender identity. Basically, if you do not identify as cisgender, you are welcome here! We meet virtually on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm. We meet in person on the 4th Saturday of every month at 2:30pm.

Transfemme Support Meetings are only open to individuals who are transwomen, transfemme, or exploring/questioning their identity as a transwoman or transfemme. We meet virtually on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm. (With occasional in-person meetings.)

Transmasc Support Meetings are only open to individuals who are transmen, transmasculine, or exploring/questioning their identity as a transman or transmasculine. We meet virtually on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm. (With occasional in-person meetings.)

Nonbinary Support Meetings are only open to individuals who are nonbinary, genderqueer, genderfluid, or exploring/questioning their identity as existing outside of the M/F options. We meet virtually on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm. (With occasional in-person meetings.)

Loving Kindness (beginning July 2026) is a hybrid, peer-led support group for people who have a close relationship with someone who is transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and/or gender diverse. This can include parents and caregivers of minors, parents of adult children, romantic partners, best friends, etc. As long as you are showing up with the intention to be supportive of your trans loved one, you are welcome here. We meet virtually on the first Monday of every month at 6:30pm.

Q/T Housing Solutions (beginning July 2026) is open to anyone in the queer and trans community experiencing housing insecurity in Asheville and surrounding areas. This is a peer led-support group with a special focus on mutual aid. We meet in person on the fourth Monday of every month at 5-6:30pm.
